about

While I was living around DC and active in the mid-Atlantic improvisation circuit I belonged to a gathering of musicians that sometimes merged between the three vocalists of Comma and the five electro-acousticians of Gray Code.

This is one of those incarnations, when slightly sticky we effervesced to form a meandering quartet of structured free improvisation at the Galaxy Hut for a couple of hours one evening in the final weeks of the millennium.

I wish I had pictures or video of that night, I recall the equipment array we brought took up like a third of the space and we were practically set up on top of the first row of tables and booths.

These are the kinds of live collaborations that I miss the most, especially in an age of increasingly remote and limited public spaces for experiencing art and music. Listening to it only inspires me to recreate chances for doing it again.
