In the wee hours of a brittle Chicago morning I lugged a full car of gear into the radio studio at WNUR for the 'etc' show hosted by max50. This is a hard night to forget, the momentum and sonic minimalism combined in a hybrid performance of free improvisations and embellished versions of original studio works.

These live radio shows often became the source of samples used for other tracks, it is funny to hear some of them among the accidental textures in their live, long-form versions. Providing the sound is a wide array of table-top devices, pedals, amplified objects (a lot of rocks), and small percussion.

Doing the hybrid sets where I combine live manipulations with pre-recorded studio tracks that sometimes contain samples made from the very objects I use live gives this sort of alchemy quality to the music. Nuggets of exploration blossom into looping filigree, morphing into melancholy songs and sedimentary dance grooves.
