Shimmer is a brand new track that I was recording first as a long-form ambient drone piece to be released as its own album. This goal quickly changed when I discovered I had captured part of an anime that I was playing on my laptop at the time, called Perfect Blue, unaware its soundtrack was captured into my droning hardware.

I loved the sounds I got from the ululating synth pads so I didn't want to just toss it on the floor. Ironically, the movie is one I had named a song after. So it made some sense to revisit the theme as a different style, featuring samples from the anime itself this time. The plan expanded to have both tracks on the same release, new and not so new.

As I searched for that older track master, a few other unreleased gems caught my eye. New and old like the other pair, Smile is a modular ambient work while Three is a tech-house romp. It seemed like a good opportunity to add a little more hue and saturation to the gathering Blue, so I included a very early 1990's remix to give it a diverse compilation feel, and another from a decade later to get some horns involved. I hope you enjoy the music!
