Live Craque: HotHouse

by craque

A great deal of my live shows at this time were not very packed. Perhaps because some might call it difficult listening, extemporaneous sound collage is not everyone's cup of tea, I know.

This venue was no exception. I remember feeling very alone there, propped up on a jazz stage, like a fanciful display out of place against walls of what seemed to me like crimson velvet. My buddy Billy Dalessandro was one of the few in the audience, and times like that underline that the presence of a handful of engaged listeners showing their support is better than an anonymous audience of many.

It was also one of my largest equipment load-ins for the shortest performance time (in its entirety here), with the exception of the gig that only lasted 15 minutes in the warehouse on the river that got busted - while I was doing beat-less experimental sound improvisation - for being suspected as a "rave" instead of the large electronic stage art installation and gallery where we staged elaborate Synesthesia dance shows.

Now, those were much better attended. ;)
